Welcome to the Man of Yorke’s Blog
Welcome! I’m Martin and I’m obsessed with the history of the British Isles, there’s nothing I like better than getting in the car and hunting down obscure and fascinating relics hidden in the English countryside, whether they be beautiful churches, prehistoric standing stones or the ruins of ancient castles.
The Man of Yorke Statement
In this blog I hope to encourage people to just get out and discover! Why travel abroad when Britain has got so much history and beautiful locations. Just grab a good Road Map and a guide book and the worlds your oyster!
Where I am, What I do.
I am currently based in Bray on the River Thames in Berkshire but I am called the Man of Yorke because I lived in the merry City of York for 9 years and started a youtube channel there with that name… do check it out (I’m desperate for subs!)
In York, I became a Catholic, met my long-term Partner and completed my Masters Degree in Medieval Archaeology, I also worked as a Viking for 4 years… I am now a Learning Officer for schools for a renowned Heritage Site in Windsor.
I enjoy hiking, visiting heritage sites, reading and occasionally a pipe.
